A concert for Iraqi orphans.
Human Relief Foundation and the students Union are organizing a charity concert at the University of Manchester, by the Oud soloist Ahmed Mukhtar for peace, under the title (from the spirit of Iraq). Profits from the evening will be devoted to orphaned children in Iraq, which previously Mukhtar gave a lot of charity concert proceeds to. The concerts to pass without the dark tunnel of politics. 500 people are expected to attend the evening at the great hall on Monday the10th of March 2008. Mukhtar will perform some of the Iraqi tradition music and some of his compositions such as:(Childhood), (Absence), (Nowruz), (I heard Baghdad) also will play "(elegy to Palms) for the soul of the secretor of Journalist Union Shihab al-Tamimi, who was killed few days ago by a terrorist attack.
Mukhtar will play in many future concerts to get more donations for Human Relief Foundation whom worked in Iraq for many years and helped a lot of the Iraqi people.
Human Relief Foundation is a well-known charity founded in 1991 with branches in Iraq (Baghdad, Mosul & Basra), Afghanistan, Kashmir, Palestine, and Lebanon. Also University of Manchester has organized more than one event to support the Iraqi culture.
